IMPORTANT: Some of the activities are dependent of the weather condition. Iceland, being an island in the North Atlantic, can have very rapid weather changes The weather can indeed be moody so it is a good plan to always have a back-up plan! Fly-fishing: Standing alone on a river bank, waiting for the wild salmon or trout to show up is a unique feeling. It is both peaceful and exciting at the same time! We hava a range of rivers to choose from both for beginners and advanced fly fishers alike. You can either go for a daytrip or stay in one of our lodges at the river.
Whale watching. These huge animals impress everyone that witnesses their presence. On a good day you can see different species and as these animals are curious, they often come quite close to the boat. But don´t worry, the are too clever to do any harm.
Sealwatching. At one special place in Iceland there is a large community of seals which you can come relatively close to via a boat. They are incredible cute and many believe their eyes resemble those of humans. In Iceland there are lot of fairytails of seals and their relationship with people.
Golf: Majority of the golf courses in Iceland have breathtaking view.s It doesn´t matter if you are a beginner or a professional golfer, you will find a golf course that suits you. You must try go golfing in the midnight sun – that is an unforgettable experience.
Bike tours. If you prefer mountain bikes, you can experience the magic of the highlands. But keep in mind that the highland has steep hills and rough terrain so you must be in a good physical shape. For an easier option, a bike ride through downtown Reykjavik city is a great way to take in the city scenery.
Museums If you are interested in how people have survived over the centuries at this remote island in the north, there are some interesting museums to visit, both in Reykjavik and small, but interesting museums in villages all around iceland. For all museums lovers, the national museum in Reykjavik is a must.. Art, handcraft and music Icelandic people are generally very creatative and many have caught the worlds attention, such as the singer Björk and the band Monsters of Men. Sculptures and paintings can be found at many art galleries in Reykjavik, and in every single village in Iceland you can visit one or more hand craft gallery.
City life Even though Reykjavik is a small city, it has all the offerings of a big city. There are gourmet restaurants, serving all kind of cuisine from all around the world. We especillay recommend you try one of the fish restaurants as the fish in Iceland is known for its freshness and have been praised by famous culinary experts. The Icelandic lamb is a must try as well. Icelandic sheep live in the highlands like a wild animal during the summers. Reykjavik often hosts exciting events, such as concerts and festivals, and the nightlife is just fun, fun, fun. You shouldn´t be surprised if you would occasionally meet some celebrities in downtown Reykjavik, as Iceland has been a popular destination for the famous, appreciating the tranquility in Iceland with its fresh nature and clean air.
Snowmobile It is not possible to describe the feeling when you ride your own snowmobile on the endless white fields of the glacier. You experience a total sense of freedom! If you don´t feel like driving yourself you can sit at the back and enjoy the ride!
Glacier hiking is almost like meditation. You must calm yourself down and be ready to walk in the white field for some time. Eenjoy the quietness and empty your mind of thoughts. In the end you will have the most beautiful scenery and that feeling of how small and powerless we really are compared to the forces of nature.
Ice climbing requires some strength and skills to climb an ice rock. But if you are up to it , you should try.
Horse riding The Icelandic horse is small, strong, and very intelligent – well, most of them are, just like us people. They are softer to ride on than other horses, so you can ride longer. You can choose from a couple of hours riding tour upto a few days.
Hiking is a popular hobby in Iceland. You can either go for one day hiking or you can hike in the highlands for a few days, sleep in a tent, and prepare meals in the nature – a true „back to basic“ experience. There are no shops or restaurants on the way, but instead you have the unspoiled nature all for your self.
ATV Quads drive surely is exciting. You can drive fast at the black sand beaches and enjoy the freedom. 4x4 super jeep tour in the highland will allow you to experience the unspoiled nature at its best. You will cross unbridged white water rivers and even drive though some snow. If you wish you can either experince to sleep in a tent in the mountains, far from civilization or pit stop at nearby hotels.
Scuba diving and snorkling At Þingvellir National Park is you have the opportunity to snorkle or dive in the ravine Silfra. This exceptional place is already on the must-to-visit list for professional divers. You don´t need experince for snorkling, but Silfra gives the opportunity to visit an incredible blue underwater world with underwater visibilit of up to 150 meters (450 feet). Spa visit one of your choice . You can definitely find a treatment that suits you. Facial, body, massage, relax in the hot tub with geothermal water – especially attractive if you are here in the winter season.
Geothermal bath the most famous is the Blue lagoon Geothermal Spa, with the white healing mud. But in north of Iceland there is another similar lagoon, with a spectacular view. And in every village you will find a swimming pool with geothermally heated water. The swimming pool gathering is one of our culture, some people go every day at the same time, often before they go to work. They go to their local swimming pool, they meet the same people and in the jacuzzi they discuss politics and other topics.
Festivals Icelandic people love to celebrate. Anniversaries and weddings are usually a big deal, and if you want to organize a special occasion in Iceland we have some splendid ideas! In Iceland the e New Year is celebrated loudly with fireworks and parties all over the city. More sophisticated festivals are the national day June 17th and the cultural night the 3rd weekend of August. Gay Pride has increased in popularity, Food&Fun festival in November has brought many famous chefs to work their magic at selected restaurants in Reykjavik, the music festival Iceland Airwaves, held the first weekend of November, and more celebrations can be found all around Iceland for the whole year.
Sea angeling why not try the tradional way of living in Iceland , take a yacht tour and head towards the ocean and catch some fish to cook later on?
Birdwatching Iceland has been called a paradise for bird watchers for the fact how close you can get to the birds. There are around 350 bird species in Iceland and many of them are sea birds. The best time for bird watching is from late May through June, when all migrants have arrived. The birds seem to enjoy the magical midnight sun just as much as the rest of us.
Shopping is a classic activity and rarely fails! You will be amazed by the variety of different kinds of design shops in Reykjavik, both chic and classic. A visit to a fur coat shop is a must. There are shops with stylish outdoor outfits, and wonderful and warm Icelandic wool sweaters, scarfs and gloves. If you want a piece of icelandic art or a souvenir to remind you of your visit to Iceland there are plenty to choose from. You can have a personal assistant to take you to the best places.
Northen Lights occurs in the clear night sky from October - March. The sight of the extraordinary, beautiful Northern Lights is unforgettable for anyone that has ever seen this stream of colours dancing in the dark sky.
River rafting is one of the most adventurous activities. Your ride in the most powerful waves will certainly get your adrenaline flowing, but also give you the chance to admire the beautiful canyons when the water calms down. In the end, the rafters can jump from a cliff into the river – if they dare!
Kayaking is only possible when the sea is calm. It is something very special and so relaxing to paddle quietly in one of the deep fjords, framed by magnificent mountains.
Dog sledge. Our four legged Husky friends are big, fluffy and happy, and they love to run. The dogs and sledges do not create any air or noise pollution; it's just you, the dogs and the frosty stillness.
Cave exploring .To explore the under world is magnificent. There are varieties of caves to explore, the most exciting is a dormant volcano crater. You will have to descend about 120 meters (360 feet) in a open cable lift until you reach the bottom of the magma chamber. It is the only place in the world where you can go inside a volcanic crater, so this is very unique experience.
Helicopter or airplane sightseeing the eagles eye can explore the world from a different angle. You will see the craters of the volcanos and the contrasts of the land, the ice and the black colour of the volcanic sand, green fields and steep mountains. This is a great way to discover how sparsely populated Iceland is.
Greenland, the world's largest island extends way into the Arctic Circle. 80% of it is covered in ice. Greenland is the most sparsely populated country in the world and no roads connect any of its towns. How does one travel when there are no roads ? By plane, helicopter or ship and by husky dog- sledge journey on the frozen wilderness. You will discover incredible wildlife, like whales, musk oxen, seals, reindeer and polarbears. It is indeed magical to paddle quietly in a kayak and see a seal relaxing on an iceberg floating next to you. In Greenland you have the opportunity to go fly-fishing and reindeer hunting. A perfect combination is a day tour from Iceland to Greenland, so these two facinating communities so far in the North Atlantic can be visited in the same trip!
